“Damaru Bhajey!” is Damaru Singapore’s debut production. Presenting 120 minutes of pulsating drumming and exhilarating music, it depicts our journey since inception two and a half years ago.

The concert is an attempt to bridge conventional classical, street and folk drumming; with a twist of contemporary edge. It seeks to raise awareness about the drums of India and its respective cultures. The sounds of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Varanasi, Kerala and Maharashtra will be portrayed through original songs which will be debuted in the concert. The show aims to shed light on our mission for a shared community of Indian drummers with its audience.

The concert will incorporate other art forms such as media arts, dance, movement and poetry. Featuring the members of Damaru Singapore, including guest performers – dancer Shahrin Johar, vocalist Sai Vigneshwar, percussionist Sharanpal Gill, flautist Niranjan Pandian and backed by the melodies of Groove factory, Isuru Wijesome (Guitar) Kumar Morgan (Keys) and Nilesh Nathaniel (Bass).

Damaru Bhajey! is directed and co-produced by Mr Akshara Thiru together with Ms Sangeetha Segar. Made possible with the support of the National Arts Council (NAC) Arts Fund.
